About the Business

Specialties

Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant is famous for serving locally caught seafood and especially shrimp - Reds, Whites, Pinks, Brownies, "Hoppers" and, of course, our trademark specialty...Rock Shrimp, the sweetest little delicacy to ever come from the ocean. We also serve choice meats, pasta, homemade soup & desserts and can compliment it all with a full bar. Everyone receives our hot corn fritters when you arrive!

History

Established in 1983.

Rodney Thompson, the founder of Dixie Crossroads, used to be one of Titusville's best local boat builders. But his love for rock shrimp led him to create Dixie Crossroads. Opened on January 1, 1983 as a thirty-seat diner, Dixie Crossroads today is recognized as one of the country's more unique restaurant experiences. Our menu is seafood at its best - not masked by sauces, pasta, or extenders - just cooked in the "Old Florida" tradition and served to you with Southern Hospitality.

Meet the Business Owner

Business owner information

Laurilee T.

Business Owner

A co-owner of Dixie Crossroads, Laurilee's family came to Florida six generations ago the way many settlers and Native Americans did - up the St. Johns River.  An ancestral family home still stands today in Blue Spring State Park.  Her love of nature started way back as she had her first boat at the age of ten.  She worked her way through increasingly larger fishing boats, ending up with a 65-footer built by her Dad.  The only female longline skipper in the southeast, Laurilee was a pioneer in the Gulf of Mexico longline bottom fishing industry during the early 1980s.After leaving the ocean in 1987, first-hand experience in stressed Gulf fisheries led Laurilee to take part in preservation efforts closer to home.  When overfishing threatened the habitat and future supply of rock shrimp, she encouraged her entire family to step up and lead the efforts to end trawling in the fragile Oculina Reef and put a management plan in place for the rock shrimp fishery.
