Prime Rib is our house specialty. Since 1963, we have served what is arguably the best Prime Rib in the South Bay. We have a loyal following of local regulars and for good reason. The delicious, homestyle, generously portioned food, stiff drinks, and mid-century ambiance make the San Franciscan a unique experience to behold.

History

Established in 1963.

The San Franciscan was founded by Salvatore "Sam" Failla in 1963. Sam decided to trek west after being routinely hassled for money by the mob at his night club in Buffalo, New York. Originally a bar with a single room, the San Franciscan quickly evolved into a large table-service restaurant. This transition was triggered by Sam's wife Connie, who began serving large, delicious plates of her homemade spaghetti to bar patrons. Ownership has since been passed on to Sam's youngest son, Merrill, who continues to devote his life to the restaurant's well-being. Merrill's wife, June, and sons Chris and Mike also contribute greatly to the San Franciscan's lasting legacy. Many of the restaurant's original employees, customers, and styling cues are still around today, a true testament to a restaurant that did things right from the very beginning.
