We are a gourmet Bakery/Cafe in Santa Cruz offering the finest selection of wedding cakes, pies and tarts, pastries, and European style breads. We also serve hot breakfasts, lunch sandwiches, homemade soups, and crisp, fresh salads. All our menu items start with special ingredients like Glaum organic eggs, Saag's Black Forest ham, Live Earth Farm strawberries and locally grown produce when possible. Everything is fresh. We roll out our own pot pie crusts, make all our salad dressings from scratch, roast red peppers, and simmer our homemade soups daily. We've been voted Best Bakery in Santa Cruz many times and are widely considered the "Go To" cake place for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. Established in 1984.
Janet Platin started The Buttery 36 years ago serving high quality breads and pastries in a small retail space in midtown Santa Cruz, California. Her passion for creating delicious old world style recipes helped her little bakery grow and expand in 1996. In 2006 The Buttery's square footage doubled to include The Corner Cafe, where guests now enjoy full breakfasts and lunch entrees including salads, soups, sandwiches and hot dishes. Take Out is always popular as is Catering for meetings and events. The Buttery has become known as the GoTo place for special occasion cakes and Wedding cakes, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Outdoor seating, umbrellas and group tables are a new addition and live music can be enjoyed Sunday mornings.
