History
Established in 1972.
Tabi-Ji first opened its doors in Anaheim in 1972 on the corner of Ball road and Dale street by Chef Susumu Steve Yamamoto and his father Toshio Yamamoto and brother Osamu Yamamoto. Tabi-Ji was the third Japanese Restaurant to open in Orange County at that time. Tabi-Ji was the local favorite place to go for special occasions and a place to have a traditional Japanese family meal. The original Tabi-Ji restaurant closed in 1998 while Chef Steve Yamamoto was running the second family restaurant, SHIKI in the city of Orange. In 2014 Chef Steve Yamamoto decided to open the second generation of Tabi-Ji restaurant which is located at 665 N Tustin street in Orange. The second generation Tabi-Ji restaurant still offers the same traditional Japanese meals with the addition of an elegant sushi bar and four tables of Teppanyaki grills. Chef Steve Yamamoto enjoys seeing his new generation of old Tabi-Ji customers come and dine-in at his new generation of Tabi-Ji restaurant.
