Sumiya first opened in June of 2006 in its original location on 5160 Moorpark Ave, San Jose, CA. Unfortunately, in October of 2008, fire started from the next door restaurant and burned down Sumiya as well. On January 21st, 2009, Sumiya was able to re-open at the current location in Santa Clara.
