For over 18+ years, we've provided a German take on Alameda and the Bay Area, by providing our customers with authentic German dishes and drinks for dine in or catering, a place to watch big sports events such as the Euro cup or celebrate German events such as Oktoberfest locally here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and more. Our team is passionate about bringing together the original tastes and flavors of authentic German cuisine through specialties & blends. Owners Peter & Cindy, come with several years of experience and extensive knowledge as business managers in the culinary industry, providing excellent customer service internationally. They assure guests have a unique experience, through European dishes and specialties. Their purpose is to bring German flavors to Alameda's Bay Area. Peter is a chef from Flensburg Germany. He cooked in restaurants in Flensburg and Berlin, getting his Chef's certification at the Hotel School in Berlin. Peter was chef/partner at Suppenkuche in San Francisco for 8 years until moving over to Alameda to open Speisekammer in 2002. Cindy started as a server, bartender, & bar manager in restaurants & clubs in SF & Philadelphia. She took over the historic Cafe Du Nord in SF in 1991. She ran it until 2003 - creating a great bar & venue for up and coming bands. Now she runs Speisekammer (with German Chef/ Partner Peter Kahl) and couldn't be more excited to offer up a German take for Alameda and the Bay Area.
