About the Business
Specialties
Scoma's, located perfectly on the San Francisco Bay, is one of the most iconic restaurants in the city, having opened in 1965. Since then, the restaurant has provided the freshest, most sustainable and delicious local seafood to locals and visitors alike. Priding itself on its "Pier To Plate" menu, Scoma's owners, chefs and management pride themselves on their deep relationships with the local fishing community where they source most of their seafood. Guests can even watch the fishing boats pull up to the restaurant's own fish receiving station and get a glimpse of that day's catch before it is artfully served on their plate. Some classic favorites include the "Lazy Man's" Cioppino, Fresh Dungeness Crab, World Famous Clam Chowder, Prawns Annuzzi, and a wide variety of pastas and seasonal selections. Scoma's also offers a full bar with a fantastic craft cocktail program and an extensive local beer, award-winning wine list for those looking to relax and imbibe while watching the sun set over the water. Scoma's offers complimentary valet parking, just right in front of our restaurant. Please call us if you need any assistance with directions or anything else. We hope to see you at Scoma's soon!
History
Established in 1965.
In 1965, the Scoma brothers Al and Joe Scoma opened a humble café on the bustling wharf, using their mother's recipes for inspiration. Scoma's own fish receiving station allows public viewing of wild salmon and local Dungeness crab as it's off-loaded from boats and prepared for the kitchen.

Business Owner
In 1965 when brothers Al Scoma (1920-2007) and his brother Joe heard about a small coffee shop on the Wharf that was for sale, little did they know they were on the road to creating a landmark restaurant. The brothers bought the tiny, six-stool coffee shop on Pier 47 that served local fishermen breakfast and burgers and began the long and ultimately successful process of turning the hidden local hang-out into one of the nation's highest grossing independent restaurants.
