History

Established in 1998.

For the past 15 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restauranteur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite grilled baby back and beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness and friendly service. Phil doesn't come from a long line of BBQ connoisseurs. Instead, he created from scratch a top-secret recipe for BBQ rubs and sauce while taking his dad's advice to only cook what he knows best and treat employees like family. Phil has been a pioneer of fast, casual dining since the opening of the first restaurant, giving San Diegans what they want - great BBQ. Taking care, satisfying cravings and supporting customers has always been #1.

Serving unforgettable food with flair is not where "Phil's Way" ends.  Phil's BBQ is a major PHILanthropic contributor to a diverse mixture of community organizations throughout San Diego County.  Phil's BBQ primarily supports charities which benefit children and animals.  Beginning in 2008, the biggest charity event of the year is Phil's BIG BBQ at the Ballpark: "Operation BIGS" which benefits the children of our deployed military. Each summer, Phil's BBQrew commandeers a parking lot adjacent to Petco Park and makes magic at the largest tailgate event in the U.S.A. for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters, their companions and the general public alike.  Each summer, Phil's BBQ has increased its attendance record and total donation proceeds for Operation BIGS and 2012 will be no different--our goal in 2012 is to surpass $50,000.00 in charitable proceeds.
