Oakland, CA: Brothers Benjamin and Daniel Cukierman are known for their entrepreneurship and honest, innovative approaches to business. As owner / operators of Berkeley's renowned Shattuck Down Low and Oakland's beloved Room 389, the pair are thrilled to announce the opening of their newest venture, Mad Oak. The opening of Mad Oak in downtown's 12th Street corridor breathes new life into the once burgeoning Oasis nightclub (whose doors were closed in 2012), complete with open and inviting floor plans that utilizes abundant natural light, an outdoor patio prime for afternoon toasts or cocktails and provisions under the stars, and a gorgeous expansive roof deck. In collaboration with Oakland's Black Creek Builders, Daniel and Benjamin Cukierman have spent upwards of the last two years in preparation for this very week, to finally be able to invite the public into their stylish yet earthy, gorgeous new space. Brothers, Daniel and Benjamin, grew up in Berkeley and have lived in Oakland since 2007. They opened their first bar together in 1997 in Berkeley's Shattuck Hotel with a smoking lounge and DJs, which soon became a favorite for locals. Daniel went on to open Shattuck Down Low in 2001 where they hosted great parties and local and international artist as well. They opened Room 389 along with Jamie B. in Oakland in 2010, one of the great gems of Adams Point. When Shattuck Down Low's lease was not renewed in 2012 they moved their license to Mad Oak and started the 2 year process of revitalizing the building. As East Bay natives they are excited and proud to add this great new space to Oakland.
