Established in 2012.

Over eigth years ago, the idea of La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana was conceived by answering a simple question: Could we create a dining experience that would be something both familiar and exciting for our community and fellow food explorers? The answer is infinitely more complex than the question, but we're so glad we invested the time to do it because we discovered was a huge opportunity to innovate and create in ways not yet seen. To achieve this, we foster a vibrant and relaxed environment where you're able to enjoy your special time with your friends, family, and peers; experience surprisingly delicious flavor profiles and dishes; and receive personalized and professional service from an engaged and knowledgeable staff. La Viga is part of the La Viga Culinary group that is behind LV Mar and San Agus restaurants in the Bay Area.

Manuel Martinez is the Chef/Owner at La Viga Restaurant in Redwood City. Chef Manuel's menu focuses on classic Mexican flavors with seafood and modern influences. Chef Manuel learned his art in some of the most revered kitchens in the Bay Area. Working beside Michelin recommended masters, Chef Manuel embraced a world-class philosophy of gastronomy. Known for his no-nonsense approach, Chef Manuel understands that the race to creating the finest contemporary cuisine is one that has no finish line.Always inventing, while respecting traditional palettes, Chef Manuel creates menus that are new, fresh, and yet familiar. He sources fresh local, seasonal, sustainable, and organic ingredients to create unique and innovating dishes. Continuing his long list of successes that includes properties like Bucca Giovanni, One Market, The Left Bank, and (his own) LV Mar and San Agus, Chef would like to invite you to La Viga...the same passion, the same expertise, take it to a new level!
