We specialize in dry rub, hot smoke BBQ and friendly family service. Our meals are simple but delicious and we are a "come as you are" joint. Most of our staff has been with us for a decade or more. James(Jimmy) has been with us for almost 25 years. We know who our customers are and our customers or "family" know who we are and what to expect. Great Food, Great Service, my granddfather's secret recipe for success. Part of that secret recipe also is treating people with respect and treating people as guests as if they were in our own home. We can't wait to see you for the 100th time, or the first time and introduce you to the family. So come down to Henry's!

History

Established in 1950.

Henry Puckett opened Henry's on First street in San Jose in June of 1950. Later when Highway 280 was set to be put in Henry had to move the business to it's current location iin 1960. The building was once the Torino Hotel and the building is over 100 years old. Henry refurbished the interior, brought in a back bar and BBQ pit and the rest is history. Henry's has been through recessions, floods, city development and is still going strong. Henry's philosphy was simple. Great Food, Great Service. You always feel at home at Henry's, you always know what to expect and you always know that we will be here when you need that great steak or ribs.

I grew up at the Hi-LIfe, learned how to cook, how to work, how to socialize, how to run a business and how to treat people with respect. Henry and my family taught me these things. I learned everything I know about BBQ and Meats from the Hi-Life and in my opinion it's the only way to do it. I am third generation family owner and have spent my entire life in San Jose. I love this place, and I love this city.
