History

Established in 1981.

From her humble beginnings working in Century City and DTLA eateries and cafeterias in the late 60's, Gloria made her own waves through the Angeleno Latin American cuisine scene with her delectable family recipes and never-failing customer charm. Gloria's Café was born in 1981 when Gloria took over a small lunch stand in a seemingly remote corner of West Los Angeles. The "purple shack", as it was fondly referred to because of its bright purple exterior, was anything but remote after less than a year in operation. Word got out, and over the years as the clientele became more familiar with Central American food, Gloria eagerly responded with an expanded menu that include some her childhood recipes and favorites from her native El Salvador such as pupusas, fried plantains and carne adobada. It became as in demand as the wildly popular Mexican dishes. In 1999, Gloria moved her operation to Venice Blvd in Culver City, where she enjoys local and national popularity thanks to all of you!

Owner and founder of Gloria's Cafe. Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, Gloria set her sights and dreams in immigrating to the United States and, like most hard-working immigrants, worked diligently to create a better life for her family. She has 5 children, 5 beautiful grandkids and of course, a thriving family business making people happy serving delicious food!
