The Gardena El Rocoto location was established in 1995 - seeking to introduce the flavors and culture of Peru to the people of Gardena and beyond through the unique offerings crafted by 3-time Sabor de Las Americas award winner Chef Jorge W. Chan. Feast your eyes and your stomachs to traditional Peruvian-Chinese cuisine, also known as Chifa! Combining the culinary traditions of China with the ingredients and traditions of Peru, El Rocoto offers a unique and satisfying experience to those who crave genuine Peruvian food, drinks, and atmosphere.

Award Winning Chef at El Rocoto Restaurant, with a Culinary, Bakery, and Pastry Arts Degree from Le Cordon Bleu. A Peruvian immigrant in search of the American Dream, Chef Jorge began his culinary journey from humble roots - learning traditional Chifa cuisine from his parents and relatives, while also learning the tools of the trade from working in various American restaurants. After opening the first El Rocoto Restaurant, Chef Jorge went on to win the Sabor de Las Americanas award two years in a row, proving his Peruvian recipes to be a cut above the rest!
