Blake's Place is family owned and operated by Gene Hobel and his son Blake. Opened in 1996 when Blake was just 6 months old. Blake is now 24 working as a manager. You may be surprized by having your food served by Blake himself. Blake's Place has been featured as the top REAL Barbecue establisments by KCAL Channel 9, KCBS Channel 2, Elmer Dills Channel 7, OC Register, OC Weekly, Orange Coast magazine and others. Started in the restaurant business in 1981 as a manager for Ichabod Crane's dinner house. Left in 1985 to attend California Culinary Academy, graduated in 1987. Worked as a manager for the Claim Jumper restaurants working operations and menu development. Opened Blake's Place in 1996, 6 months after Blake was born. Blake now 27 works full time as a manager at Blake's Place. When not at the restaurant I spend giving back to the community; coaching, volunteer deputy sheriff, charity events, etc.
