Since it first opened in March of 1998, Baja Sonora has been serving authentic Mexican lunch and dinner to crowds of happy customers in a friendly, casual atmosphere. Mary Sophiea and her partner, Mike Mendelsohn, began with a little, cozy restaurant that seated only 40 patrons inside and eight outside.

Baja Sonora Mexican Restaurants have been serving our customers Authentic Mexican lunch and dinner in a casual, relaxed atmosphere in Long Beach, California, since 1998. We've been featured in Sunset Magazine's Best of the West issue on "The Ultimate Taco". Our crispy hard tacos and mouth-watering soft tacos were chosen by the readers of the Press Telegram Newspaper as the Best Tacos in Long Beach. Are you ready to tackle our Baja Burrito, the 2 pounder with your choice of Carne Asada or Carnitas or Shredded Beef, Chicken, Chile Verde or Colorado? How about Macho Nachos? This is not a little snack so bring an appetite or bring a friend to share it with. Or maybe you'd prefer something lighter like a Shrimp Tostada or our Chicken Bowl or Grilled Veggie Salad.
