Our Executive Chef, Walter Cotta, received the Chef of the Year award from the Southern California Restaurant Writers' Association in 2004-2005. This award was one of many recognitions of his amazing culinary creations that are, at once, reminiscent of traditional Latin American cuisine and cutting edge in creativity and expert fusion of flavors. History
Established in 1994.
Alegria, meaning Happiness in Spanish, opened its colorful doors in 1994 in the heart of Long Beach's historical Pine Ave district. Nestled in one of Pine Ave's beautiful historical buildings, its design merges color and a rustic flair into a fabulous atmosphere that pairs well with its artistic menu. Our sangria has become famous in Los Angeles. At our live bar, guests can see every dish coming out of the kitchen, and it soon becomes impossible to resist trying at least one bite. Our live entertainment and old-fashioned Latin American hospitality will make you feel at home every time you visit us.
