History

Established in 2009.

The Slippery Mermaid Sushi Bar is a casual sushi restaurant located in the heart of Navarre, one half mile, east of Navarre Beach Bridge. The orginal building that was on this commercial site was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan, and in its place we constructed a Florida Cracker Style Cottage that houses Navarre's first authentic sushi bar. It is the only sushi bar in the area with a waterfront view and outside deck for dining. Our cottage is situated in the proposed "Heart of Navarre Town Center", along busy Hwy 98. We are lucky to enjoy the balmy breezes from both the Gulf of Mexico and the Santa Rosa Sound, not to mention the magnificent view. In the evening, the skyline of Navarre Beach lights up to offer a magical display of twinkling lights...again, what a view!

The Slippery Mermaid is not your ordinary sushi bar. Opened in 2009 by Karen Hineman, “The Slipp” has taken sushi to new heights.  Ricki Lawson (Karen’s daughter)  and Chad Lawson manage The Slipp “South” while Ricki’s younger brother manages the other location. When Karen opened The Slipp she trained with chefs at universal studios, and carefully sourced ingredients and products to create a unique experience. Over the years her children have elevated the menu by creating new  recipes and continuing to update with food trends.  As we come into our 10th year of business, we have remodeled and will continue to grow with our loving supportive community.
